The brutal conflict since April 2023 has claimed the lives of over 27,000 people and forced millions to flee their homes, pushing the number of displaced individuals to over 14 million people, 53% of whom are children (IOM). This has given rise to the worst displacement crisis in the world. The people of Sudan are now facing severe food shortages and hunger, with families struggling to secure even the most basic necessities. The UN is reporting some 25.6 million – half of the country’s population – are suffering from severe hunger and in urgent need of humanitarian aid. With acute shortages in food, clean water and medicine which has plunged millions into food insecurity, with children suffering the most.
